Bio:
Prof. Mike (Yen-Yang) Chen leads research on the intersection of Mobile, Human-Computer Interaction, and Cloud Computing. He joined NTU in 2010 as an Assistant Professor and founded the Mobile HCI Lab that has won numerous awards. Prior to NTU, Mike founded DrPad to revolutionize mobile medical care (http://www.drpad.com.tw), and appWorks Ventures to foster Taiwan's startup community (http://www.appworks.tw). Mike led Mobile R&D at Ludic Labs, the social media startup funded by Accel Ventures and acquired by Groupon. He also led several novel mobile phone projects at Intel Research in Seattle.
Mike received his MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and a Management of Technology (MOT) certificate from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. The Discovery Channel has called Mike’s research on sensing fitness activities as “Magic Hand” and New Scientist described his project on 3D tabletop interactions as the “Future on Display”.
When Mike is not hacking on mobile apps on his Macbook, he is an adventurous travel photographer. Recent memories include trekking Mt. Ausangate in Peru and scuba diving in Aruba.
